WHS Officer | Southern Highlands | 6-month temp role, ASAP start

This Moss Vale based organisation is looking for a WHS Officer for a 6-month temp role with an immediate start.

Your new role

  • Support the creation, rollout, and continuous improvement of work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures within the WHS Management System, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) documentation-including SWMS, HIRACs, and SOPs-in collaboration with key stakeholders, ensuring all materials meet statutory and Council-specific requirements.
  • Manage or contribute to the investigation of WHS incidents in accordance with the organisation's Incident Investigation Procedure, and prepare comprehensive reports for management and the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Contribute to the design, execution, and evaluation of WHS initiatives and programs.
  • Assist in delivering the WHS Audit Program to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal WHS policies and procedures.
  • Provide detailed reporting and insights on WHS issues and risks identified within the workplace.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent experience in a WHS-related role.
  • Proven experience in monitoring WHS practices within outdoor or mechanical trade environments.
  • Ability to produce high-quality reports, policies, and procedures suitable for executive-level review.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, regulations, and relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using internal databases.
  • Must have your own transport to travel across locations - Km reimbursement will be offered

  • Flexible work from home is available, but it will be dependent on operational needs and performance
  • Hourly pay $47-55+ Super, depending on experience
