Reporting to the Senior Director Human Resource Services and working closely with the Manager HR Operational Services and the HR team, this position provides timely and acurate industrial relations advice, including complex case management including investigations and advocacy services to the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level advice and assistance on complex industrial relations matters and policy to Senior HR Business Partners and senior leaders and executive team;
  • Identify and respond to new and emerging IR issues and provide specialised and extensive advice on any complexities and longer-term implications;
  • Build and maintain an internal IR consultancy service to clients across the organisation, ensuring highly effective stakeholder engagement;
  • Review and draft well-articulated IR policies and supporting documentation as a subject matter expert;
  • Conduct and/or coordinate complex workplace investigations;
  • Undertake IR file/records management including tracking of all IR matters and reporting;
  • Develop communications in relation to legislative changes for the Senior Director Human Resource Services and Manager HR Operational Services in order to inform relevant stakeholders;
  • When required, prepare and deliver advocacy on behalf of the organisation in proceedings before the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) and other tribunal bodies to ensure compliance with legislation and reporting requirements;
  • Act as the industrial relations officer on the Agency Consultative Committee (ACC);
  • Liaise with the union in relation to workplace and industrial matters;
  • Monitor innovative and contemporary IR initiatives across the industry and changes to employment legislation to provide strategic advice to the Senior Director Human Resource Services and executive team;
  • Contribute to an equitable, healthy and safe work environment;
  • Other duties as directed.

You will be tertiary qualified in HR / IR or related Ideally seeking demonstrable experience in dealing with complex industrial relations matters including case management, reporting and providing advice. Must have the ability to conduct and/or coordinate complex workplace investigations. Previouse experience in industrial disputes including advocacy, negotiation and persuasion skills. An in depth knowledge of Queensland employment legislation / Acts and industrial commission rules and procedures including interpretation and application of the same and representation for the employer as required. Naturally you will display advanced communication skills (verbal and written) including policy development and report writing.
