We are partnered with a government-owned corporation in Townsville to recruit a People and Culture Project Officer.
Your new role
The People and Culture Officer supports the team by handling HR operations and administration, such as recruitment coordination, onboarding, employee records, data entry, reporting, and general administrative tasks.
In this temporary assignment, your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities, including preparing documentation, advertising roles, shortlisting candidates, scheduling interviews, conducting pre-employment checks, and issuing job offers.
- Coordinating onboarding and induction process for new starters, including finalising paperwork.
- Maintain and update position descriptions and conduct evaluations as per organisation frameworks.
- Process employee separation including exit checklist.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of People and Culture governance documents and other standard documents.
- Provide high-quality administrative support for the delivery of annual ad-hoc programs and projects.
- Prepare monthly Board Reports and quarterly Committee Reports and ad-hoc reports as required.
- Contribute to the organisation's strategic plan.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental management, quality and information security standards.
- Promote a zero-harm culture and continual improvement in the organisation's Health and Safety management and performance.
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience supporting the full employee lifecycle, including end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, engagement, performance management, and offboarding.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a national police check.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and previous experience working with Human Capital Management (HCM) systems.
- Previous experience maintaining accurate electronic and hard copy records management systems.
- Strong organisational and planning skills to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated initiative, innovation, and self-motivation to work independently, while effectively collaborating within a small, dynamic team.
- Strong confidentiality, diplomacy, and sensitivity in handling sensitive documents and information
