To support our continued expansion, we are looking to strengthen our HR Department by recruiting for a HR Generalist who can hit the ground running.

About the Role

Located in Preston, Victoria, our HR Services Team consists of experienced HR Professionals working in a collaborative, fast moving environment.

The HR Generalist role will report into the Group HR Manager and be responsible for overseeing a small team which provide first level HR support for stores in a portfolio of assigned States and Territories, ensuring high quality advice and interpretation on all people related matters.

There may be the requirement to travel interstate as required where conducting leadership training, workplace investigations or attending management meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day to day management and supervision of a small HR Advisory team
  • Provide support and advice to Owners and Line Management in relation to performance management, employee’s grievances and workplace investigations. 
  • Act as the escalation point for complex Employment Relations issues. 
  • Coordinate activities and represent CW Retail in a variety of external Third-Party matters.
  • Build leadership capability in the Owners and Line Management and delivery of the HR Advisory programs.
  • Your experience will allow you to provide advice on Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, contribute to improving policies and processes and provide day-to-day support for a full range of HR matters.
  • Adhoc project work as required, in the aim of continuous improvement across the HR Services Advisory operation.

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a hands-on HR generalist role with strength in Employment Relations gained within a fast-paced environment, ideally in a retail setting.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR/IR with a solid understanding of the IR & legal landscape.
  • Experience in overseeing a small team.
  • Be a strong communicator, have an attention to detail and proactive mindset to the way you work. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be a resilient team player.
  • Proven capacity managing multiple priorities and delivering high quality outputs under pressure.
  • The ability to engage and influence and build strong long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business to ensure HR policies and procedures are understood and upheld.
  • Experience in supporting the management of grievances, investigations and general case management.
