Our client is an established, technology-driven organisation with a clear vision, purpose, and sharp commercial strategy. Despite its relatively small headcount, the company has a strong presence across Australia and internationally.
This is a high-impact standalone HR role, overseeing the entire employee lifecycle while acting as the first point of contact for all people-related matters. It requires a hands-on approach combined with strategic leadership, ensuring both day-to-day HR operations and long-term workforce planning align with business goals.
There is a significant opportunity to enhance the current HR offering, particularly in learning and development, organisational design, and leadership development. Additionally, with a budget allocated for administrative support, the role will focus on streamlining transactional and operational HR processes.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Head of HR will report directly to the Managing Director, driving cultural initiatives and fostering a high-performance workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Leadership Shape and implement HR strategies that support business growth and employee engagement.
- Learning & Development Design and execute programs that enhance employee skills, career progression, and leadership capabilities.
- Employee Relations & Engagement Act as a trusted advisor, managing complex people matters while fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
- HR Policy & Compliance Ensure policies align with best practices and employment legislation, mitigating risk and maintaining ethical standards.
- Talent Acquisition & Recruitment Oversee hiring processes, develop attraction strategies, and ensure seamless onboarding.
- Leadership Development Guide executives and managers in building strong leadership capabilities that align with organisational values.
- Compensation & Reward Shape remuneration strategies that drive motivation and performance.
- Wellbeing & Workplace Safety Promote a culture of employee wellbeing while ensuring workplace safety compliance.
What we are looking for
- A blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, balancing high-level leadership with detailed HR operations.
- Proven experience as a senior HR generalist, ideally within an SME and with exposure to software development.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including expertise in complex case management.
- A commercial mindset, contributing to leadership discussions and driving business success through people strategies.
- Exceptional interpersonal and advisory skills, with the ability to coach and support the CEO and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, improvement-focused approach, consistently seeking ways to refine processes and enhance workplace culture.
