An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Employee Relations leader to take ownership of a critical ER function within a large and complex organisation.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this senior leadership position will provide strategic direction, expert advice and governance across employee and industrial relations, ensuring compliance, managing organisational risk and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Leading a team of Employee Relations specialists, you will partner closely with executive leaders to navigate complex workplace matters, influence organisational decision-making and drive best-practice people outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Employee Relations function, setting strategic direction and ensuring consistent, compliant practices.
  • Provide expert advice to executives and senior leaders on complex employee and industrial relations matters.
  • Oversee the management of high-risk workplace investigations, grievances, misconduct, performance and dispute resolution matters.
  • Lead or support enterprise bargaining activities, industrial negotiations and union engagement strategies.
  • Represent the organisation in tribunals, commissions and other external forums where required.
  • Drive the development and review of people policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
  • Design and implement initiatives that enhance workplace relations capabilities across leadership teams.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Employee Relations team.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across the organisation on strategic initiatives, organisational change and workforce projects.
About You
To be successful, you will bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law or a related discipline.
  • Extensive senior-level experience in employee and industrial relations within a large and complex environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial instruments and enterprise agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise bargaining and engaging with unions and employee representatives.
  • Experience representing organisations in formal dispute resolution processes, tribunals or commissions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance organisational risk with practical outcomes.
  • Proven people leadership experience and a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the preparation of executive papers, submissions and formal correspondence.
